The Orcas Island Community Foundation (OICF) is a tax-exempt public charity fostering philanthropy to enhance and preserve the quality of life on Orcas Island in San Juan County, Washington.
Founded in 1995, OICF has facilitated over $10 million in grants to programs serving Orcas Island, and the organization occupies a unique position, supporting and enhancing the wide variety of programs and initiatives required to maintain a vibrant and vital community. Acting as a natural convener of divergent interests, OICF encourages cooperation and collaboration to move projects forward. Partnerships may include private and corporate foundations, businesses, civic groups, nonprofits, and local, state and federal agencies.
OICF supports the Orcas Island Food Bank, to which Oprah Winfrey gifted $75,000 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Food Bank’s mission is “to gather and share food and related items with its neighbors in need,” and it offers a wide variety of local foods and pantry staples for families and individuals who find themselves in crisis.
